Throughout the process, we have been in contact with all existing artists and the previous Café Rowan Tea Tree Rooms were approached, but they unfortunately were not in a position to submit a tender for the Old Town Quarry café concession.

Are there any plans to facilitate the development of climbing (bolted sport routes) at the Quarry?
North Somerset Council are the landowners of the Quarry site and Weston super Mare Town Council are now the long term leaseholders of the central part of the site i.e. where the buildings and the grass outdoor bowl area are.
This means that the Town Council are not responsible for the Quarry rockface; this remains the responsibility of North Somerset Council. However, we are aware that the rockface has been noted as an area that will remain out of bounds due to safety issues. Therefore, we can inform you that currently the rockface is unfortunately not suitable for climbing activities.
Can I fly a drone over the Quarry?
We do not allow drones to be launched from the site itself without prior permission. If you launch your drone from public land and choose to fly over the Quarry, we ask you to read and fully understand the following: The Drone and Model Aircraft Code | UK Civil Aviation Authority. Whilst the air space is not restricted, the site is home to protected species and we ask for full care and consideration to be taken. We appreciate people letting us know beforehand if they plan to fly a drone over the Quarry. Contact us at quarry@wsm-tc.gov.uk
Can I use a metal detector at the Quarry?
We do not allow metal detecting at the Old Town Quarry. The site has had many ecological surveys carried out and we have a long term plan and commitment to the already established wildlife and protected species at the Old Town Quarry.
How accessible is the site?
We have done all we can to make the site as accessible as possible. Due to the nature of the site, the ground is uneven in places so please bear this in mind. There are 4 disabled bays for parking and a ramp leading to our new outdoor toilets as well as clear access to the café, shop and artists’ studios.
